My son has started singing. at 2 yrs and 5 mos. Actually he started singing song's about 2 months ago. It started with Rhianna's song Umbrella. I would hear him on occasions singing, "La La, Eh Eh". Last week I heard him singing Alicia Keys, "No one". He'll be playing with his toys and all of a sudden will start singing "No one, No one, noooo oneee" then he starts singing Ohh Ohh Ohhh" but he does it his own way, so cute and funny. I've been playing and singing Beatles songs to him and I think he's really digging it! On the way home from my cousins house I was playing 8 days a week and I could hear him singing in the back of my car. So I would turn and look at him, he would stop singing and cover his face. I would turn away and he would start again, I would look at him and he would stop and cover his face. My son likes the Beatles! I'm loving it!
So a question for you parents. How can I praise my son without him feeling shy about it? I don't want him to stop singing because I'm looking at him. Any ideas? Will he grow out of it? I want to encourage his artistic talent. I think this is great! Who knows maybe one day he will be on his way to become a star! If I ever get video I will post it on here. :)

I would make a habit of singing in the car so that your son sees that it is just a normal thing to do. When he starts singing, try singing along with him (without looking at him)softly so that he is still "the star in the car" but notices that you like to sing too. Once he starts to realize that it is a natural and normal thing to do, he won't be so shy about it. Oh also...what I do with my boys to encourage musical skills and abilities is to have dance parties at least 3 or 4 times a week. I just turn the music on and start to sing and dance and they dance along with me...they are allowed to get as crazy as they want as long as they are expressing themselves in a safe and appropriate manner.
(This is coming from a mama who used to mosh...so I know all about unsafe dancing practices LOL). Also, it is really important to have little drums, shakers, jingle bells etc around to encourage his musical interests. The more comfortable he becomes with music and singing, the more he will open up. I think my 2 1/2 year old might be a rocker some day too...he LOVES music and seems to have innate talents in that area. Keep us updated on your little star and his impending stardom!
I do plan on putting him in piano lessons and guitar lesson. And I will try that, I will buy more music themes toys. I think I'm unlocking his passion for music. I love it!
Hey...I left you a comment on Rock Band. Sorry it took so long...I was trying to figure out a way to email it to you because it is rather lengthy.
Take Care
