One of the toughest things to have to teach your kid will be potty training. They say boys take longer than girls. I would not know as I only have a boy. I've been at it for a few months and I gotta tell you its hell. Pee has seeped through the diaper. Poop has stained my carpet and Elmos potty training has been ingrained in my PS3's laser! But it seems to be paying off because the other day he finally pooed in the toilet! He seems to finally be getting the point. Now all I need is for him to actually tell me when he has to go! One step closer to not using anymore diapers!

You want to know what I did? I skipped the pullups and went right to the really comfy think training pants so that way he could feel it when it happened. This gets them used to feeling what it feels like to be wet. Diapers and pullups absorb all the moisture and they don't know they are wet until they are soaked.
I also let thrm play without a diaper or underwear on...not for very long though and always on a non carpeted surface. Anyway, they get to feel what it is like to be "free"...and the hope is that they like the way that feels more than a thick, bunched up diaper.
My oldest son became potty trained on his third birthday because I told myself that I wasn't going to buy anymore diapers. They just happened to run out the night before he woke up. I had brand new pairs of underwear all wrapped up as a gift and told him that we didn't have anymore diapers so this was his only choice.
From that day on...he was potty trained. It was a miracle!
I think your best just using proper pants or training pants depending whether or not you want to clean up the pants because this means they will feel the wetness and get the message sooner as they wont like it!
